Our Story Starting back in 2001 when my husband and I were planning our wedding, I decided that I wanted to give our guest a gift to remember. With several family recipes to choose from we created an Almond Butter Cream Truffle. As time went on my step son was married in 2004 and we offered to make our special favors from them. Everyone raved and encouraged us to start making them to sell; quite a scary prospect for this small town girl. In early 2005 a friend and I were having coffee and visiting when I told her about my chocolates and tossed around some ideas of selling my confectionary truffles. It was near Valentines Day and we made several flavors and packaged them in red boxes with satin ribbons and flower accents. I set out on a quest. A quest to sell 40 boxes. At each business I visited I offered a sample and sold a box at each stop. By the end of the day I was off to buy more supplies and make up another 40 boxes. The next day went about the same and I sold everything that I had made. Easter was not far away and so I began planning bigger and prepared 100 boxes of traditional Easter flavors. So I sold all of those too! Wow! We were on to something. We began doing wedding expos and joining up with our local chamber and networking slowly to see just how far we could reach new customers. With December approaching and Christmas in sight I began to seek out business that were interested in gifts for their staff as well as their customers. While working out of our home the walls started to close in and the spaces of our home were filled with racks of packaging supplies, chocolate, ribbons and bows. It was time to find a new home away from home for Sweet Serenity Chocolates. With the help from a local newspaper who showcased our products the calls started coming in. And then just as if was to be, we found a location for our shop. Our local Harley-Davidson dealer had a building that he was currently storing his old bikes. With a little elbow grease and a lot of creative vision we opened for business in November of 2006. As of this past Christmas we sold every butter cream we had in the case. NOTHING was left. I couldn’t have been more please and blessed to have come so far in just one year. "As I look to the future and the endless possibilities that await I am truly grateful for all of the many gifts that I have been given and the opportunity to find my true passion in life".
